Please bring the original and a copy of your child’s birth certificate on your visit date or your first attended session as stated in your letter of offer.
The First Few Days
A child who is tense or unhappy will not be able to play or learn properly, so it is important for parents and staff to work together to help the child/children feel confident and secure in the group. We do understand that this takes longer for some children than for others.
Clothing
In order to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials, including messy ones, it is best to send children dressed in clothes that are easily washable or not too new.
It is good for children to practice the skills that make them independent. Simple clothing that they can handle themselves will enable them to go to the toilet when they want, and to learn to put on and take off their coats will also encourage this independence.
Please send your child/children with the following items, clearly labelled inside a backpack/child’s bag:
• Change of clothes.
• Nappies/pull-ups + wipes + nappy sacks + disposable gloves.
• Slippers/soft PE pumps for indoors only.
When appropriate please apply sun cream before arriving at Pre-school, and provide a hat for outdoor play in summer months. The amount of time in the direct sun is monitored. Equally in cold weather, please ensure that your child/children have warm hats, coats and gloves, as we do go outside on most days.
